The Real Ideas Organisation wanted to give young people the chance to be inspired and put their creativity to good use during the opening ceremony of the Cornwall School Games.
Young people across three schools in Camborne, Pool and Redruth were involved in the planning and delivery of the event’s opening ceremony on 28th June 2013, which saw nearly 3,500 young people compete.
RIO supported 164 young people aged 12-16 plan the opening ceremony, including putting together choreographed dance routines and designing and creating flags for the event, which is supported by the Cornwall School Sports Partnership. Many of the young people were also able to put this towards their Arts Award.
The Cornwall School Sports Partnership was so impressed with the artistic element of the event and how the young people brought the opening ceremony to life, they have asked RIO to do the same next year.
