Jazz South Audit for Music and Music Education

Sep 7, 2018

Are you working in jazz in the south of England? Jazz South at Turner Sims want information to contribute to an important and unique online survey, as the first essential step in setting up the Jazz South jazz development project.

To access the survey online, please go to:  http://bit.ly/jazzsouthaudit

Jazz South is a brand new three-year initiative to help develop opportunities for jazz and improvised music across a region that embraces all of South East and South West England – from Kent to Cornwall to Oxfordshire, but does not include Greater London.

Led and hosted by Turner Sims Southampton, with funding from Arts Council England, Jazz South is a programme that will provide a range of new opportunities in the region including touring, commissions, masterclasses and other education work, creative residencies and networking events. Music specialists Arts & Parts Ltd have been commissioned to undertake the research.

Knowing who’s doing what and where and identifying a comprehensive range of contacts is the best way to ensure that Jazz South can get the fullest picture of jazz and improvised music in the region and engage with as many people as possible.

This survey is designed for those actively working in jazz/improvised music in any capacity. It is not designed to capture information about audiences for jazz, but is aimed at musicians, promoters, venues, festivals, youth orchestras, education projects, labels, distributors, agents, managers, broadcasters, journalists, funders, sponsors, etc.

The survey will only take about five minutes of your time, and there’s the added incentive of entering a prize draw for the chance to win a year’s subscription to Jazzwise magazine (print and online) or a Jazzwise T-Shirt.

Jazz South is an exciting opportunity for jazz and improvisation in the region and we look forward to reading your responses.
