BFI Film Academy Open for Applications

Sep 13, 2019

Do you any of the young people you know or work with love film? Are they aged 16-19? Are they interested in working in the creative industries?

The BFI Film Academy Bristol is now open for applications. No experience or qualifications are necessary just an interest in film and creative ideas. Bursaries are available.

Participants make documentaries for Rife magazine at Watershed and a drama with elements of animation at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. The programme is designed to develop their practical filmmaking skills, build their peer and professional networks and give them confidence to take the next steps towards a career in the creative media.

Students of the Film Academy will:

  • Get hands-on filmmaking experience with industry standard kit which will help you to develop practical knowledge and skills
  • Explore your own creativity and passions in a supportive environment
  • Gain invaluable experience working alongside industry professionals
  • Watch lots of films
  • Work in teams to make a documentary or drama
  • Upon completion of the course, become part of the growing BFI Film Academy alumni network with access to opportunities such as BAFTA mentorships.

Courses cost £25. If you are unable to pay the full course fee, don’t let this discourage you from applying as costs may be waived. Bursaries for travel and childcare are also available if you require assistance with these costs.

You can find out more, watch a film about the programme and apply online here: www.bfifab.org.uk

If there are young people you work with who would like to meet someone from our team to find out more or need support with an application please just get in touch.
