B-side Curators and Artists Mentoring Programme

From March 2020 – March 2021 b-side will train, mentor and support 5 young visual artists from the Borough of Weymouth & Portland (and surrounding areas) to develop, try and test new creative ideas that are specific and/or responsive to place.


From March 2020 – October 2020 b-side will train, mentor and support 5 emerging curators from the Dorset to learn more about curating events and artworks that are responsive & specific to place/people/geography/history & take the lead to curate an event/artwork for b-side festival 2020 https://b-side.org.uk/news/new-curators


b-side is always in need of enthusiastic and committed volunteers. Roles range from working directly with artists and assisting with installation, to leading volunteer teams, greeting visitors and stewarding. Roles include:
• Box Office • Front of House • Invigilating • Information Desk • Marshalling


  • Artist Assistant (shadow & assist an artist for a day or more)
    Production Assistant (help set up/break down an event/piece/artwork)
  • Trainee Filmographer/Photographer (shadow & assist a b-side festival photographer/filmographer and take your own images/produce your own film)
  • Digital Reporter (help document & promote the festival by updating our social media platforms with digital and written content captured by you (pictures/videos/audio recordings/blogs/reviews)
