Teachers’ Events

Upcoming events you might be intereted in…

The Roche Court Educational Trust have some excellent upcoming events that may be of interest. The Trust is committed to providing teachers and art educators with opportunities for networking, exploring methods of making, and developing practical skills that can be transferred to the classroom.

Take a look at the events below and book your ticket!

Teachers’ Evening: After Hours Tour

5-6.30pm, Thursday 8th October
£5 per person

Come and be inspired at an after-hours viewing of our upcoming exhibitions, Jacqueline Poncelet: Now and Then and Edmund de Waal: tacet.

Poncelet explores the possibilities of pattern and repetition across disciplines – from sculpture to weave, watercolour to wallpaper, and carpet to painting, whilst acclaimed artist Edmund de Waal exhibits new works in stone and alabaster, made during lockdown. Together we will consider how concepts and ideas can be taken back to your teaching practice, with some practical experimentation, and how some of your aims for next year may be met by a visit to Roche Court with your students.

Suitable for teachers of all key stages up to and including University level, as well as self-employed educators. This tour and discussion will take place in small groups.

Please contact edu@sculpture.uk.com or call 01980 862 802 to book your place or to arrange a bespoke CPD visit for your department or team.

Teachers’ Forum

Virtual event, hosted via Zoom
4.30pm – 6pm, Tuesday 20th October
Free to attend

Join us on Zoom for a virtual taster tour and micro-workshop inspired by our current exhibitions. Together we will consider how concepts and ideas, presented in selected artworks by Edmund de Waal and Jacqueline Poncelet, might help us reflect on our teaching practice this term.

Suitable for teachers of all key stages up to and including University level, as well as self-employed educators. Bring your own tea and biscuits!

Please contact edu@sculpture.uk.com or call 01980 862 802 to book your place.

About RIO

We’re passionate about solving social problems. From breathing new life into old buildings, to supporting young people to develop the skills to succeed in an ever-changing world, RIO innovates to deliver real and lasting social change.

By creating a change ecology – one where we influence policy, shape places, deliver strategic programmes and support and develop people – we can unlock potential and opportunities to create a fairer world; one that works for everyone, not just the privileged few.
