Pop Up Project’s 10 Stories to Make a Difference

Pop Up Project’s 10 Stories to Make a Difference

For 10 years Pop Up Project have been delivering reading, writing and illustration experiences to over 100,000 children and young people, many in deprived areas and challenging circumstances. They’re also working to build a more diverse next generation of children’s writers and illustrators through talent development and publishing opportunities. In honour of Pop Up’s 10th Birthday next year, they have commissioned 10 original illustrated books for children and young people inspired by the theme of difference. Each book is a collaboration between an established and an emerging writer or illustrator. Established authors include such luminaries as Chris Riddell, Jamila Gavin, and Alexis Deacon. The collection will be called 10 Stories to Make a Difference, and the proceeds of the books will be used to fund their education, community and talent development projects.

This beautifully illustrated collection of picture books, poetry and short stories for 5 to 25 year-olds supports their mission to promote a rich diversity of voices, experiences and themes in children’s books, and features characters of colour, with disabilities and who are LGBTQ+

They need to raise £40,000 to bring these books to life. They have launched a Crowdfunder to raise these funds, both to publish the books and to support their work through the choppy waters of Covid and into the next 5 years.

By making a pledge to their Crowdfunder you’ll help fund production of the books and launch the careers of the emerging writers and illustrators involved – and you’ll be first to receive the books when they’re published in April 2021. Every pledge also includes a donation to Pop Up to support their not-for-profit work with schools, communities, writers and illustrators. Pledges vary from buying individual books to fantastic opportunities for your school such as;
