Theatre Royal Plymouth have three opportunities available for those who are new to the industry.

Thanks to a recent award from the Weston Culture Fund, Theatre Royal are creating a new production of NHS THE MUSICAL by Nick Stimson and Jimmy Jewell for The Lyric stage in September 2021. Directed by Stephen Fletcher, at its heart the show is a love-story to the NHS, funny but highly satirical with a punch.  It is hoped it will tour the UK following the run at Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP).

TRP originally commissioned and produced NHS The Musical 12 years ago, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS.  Two years ago, Nick and Jimmy were re-commisioned to look at revising and updating the musical based on the parlous state the NHS was then in, and they were due to receive an early treatment for the show when the pandemic struck, launching the NHS onto centre stage for us all.

Originally created following an R&D process at Derriford University Hospital in Plymouth, this new version was developed following a second R&D period in 2020.  It is rooted in the stories and experiences of our local NHS staff and will have a wrap-around programme of engagement, both digital and in the community, as part of the production on stage.

There are three roles available for this musical; Production Associate: Stage Management and Production, Production Associate: Design Video and Costume, and Creative Associate: Directing, Movement and Choreography.

Theatre Royal are holding 2 informal drop in sessions on Zoom so you can find out more about the roles on Frday 23rd July. To book go to the Theatre Royal recruitment page here.
