Cultural Education in Bath & North East Somerset

Cultural Education in Bath and North East Somerset

In BANES there is a good and emerging partnership of arts and young people’s organisations, aiming to come together to do more joint work around children, young people and cultural education – with a particular focus on the ways that children and young people can engage in and shape the cultural offer, as well as those young people who experience disadvantage and are therefore less able to access cultural provision. For more details on this emerging partnership please contact Penny Hay.

Both the LA and this group of cultural partners have helped put together a successful PHF CPD award. The LA are also keen to explore how a CEP might fit in amongst existing and developing strategy and network groups in the area as well as support clear outcomes for children and young people. For more details here please contact Ann Cullis at Ann_Cullis@bathnes.gov.uk

As Bridge organisation for the south west we have compiled a range of infographics drawing together data from ACE and from government to give an overview of cultural education in BANES. This snapshot will help anyone interested in cultural education in BANES have a greater understanding of the context for children and young people in this locality. The data may also help with bid writing and comparing with other localities as well as for identifying priorities in each area. We’ll be reviewing these quarterly and will update them with any new figures that are available.

Useful resources

There are some really interesting tools and data sets which are freely available – including the Arts Council’s ‘cultural education data toolkit’ – along with a range of other databases focussed on cost of interventions for children and young people, disadvantage, health and education.
